* Photo Bug : Our Teacher

Hey!
Teacher!
Why do you always have a camera with you?

Oh...
You are a Photo Bug!

We are glad!
'Cause we like to see the pictures.
'Cause we like to watch us learning.
'Cause we like to share what we learn.
'Cause.
'Just...cause!

* Purple Feet Along the Sidewalk

Hello purple feet painted on the sidewalk!
Hello friends!

These purple feet help us know where to stand. They teach us about standing in a line.
When we put our feet on the purple print, we learn about appropriate space in line.

They help us look after each other.
They help us be safe.
We love you purple feet!

Where the Sidewalk Ends
by Shel Silverstein
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

* Writer's Tool Box

Today our teacher introduced us to the "Writer's Tool Box." Inisde the box were all kinds of tools to use when we write. There were tools to use when we write words and there were tools to use when we draw pictures that tell about words. There were papers, pencils, pens, markers, crayons (several kinds), and there was a "thinking cap."
We can't wait to get started using our tools to write stories. We are learning to read and write. We can be the Author and or Illustrator of our story. Happy kindergarten writing all year long!

* September Gingerbread Man

The first few days of Kindergarten we read many different stories about The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Girl, and The Gingerbread Baby. We even read a story about The Gingerbread Cowboy! One day there was a Gingerbread Boy in the book. It had a clue written on it. We followed the clues all through our new school, meeting many of the helpers in our school. The last clue led us back to our classroom where we found a plate of Gingerbread Cookies waiting for us to eat!

Math - Gathering Data:
Before we took a bite, our teacher asked us to think about which part of the Gingerbread boy we would eat first. Would we eat the head first? Would we eat one of the legs, or one of the arms? Mrs. Probert gave us a paper cut out of a Gingerbread Boy. We tore off the part of the body we would eat first. We took our paper Gingerbread Boy out into the hallway.
Organizing the Data - Making a Graph
We made a Bar Graph with our paper Gingerbread Boys.
Answering the Question: Which part of the gingerbread boy will most people eat first?
14 People would bite one leg first.
8 People would bite one arm first.
3 People would bite the head first.

We made paper Gingerbread People and decorated each with paper shapes. We hung the paper Gingerbread People in the Kindergarten hallway for everyone to see.
We are very proud of the Gingerbread People!
Thanks for looking!

* 4th Grade Learning Buddies

Here we are with our 4th Grade Learning Buddies. We gather together every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30-10:45. We work together to learn many things. We do all kinds of learning in math, reading, and art. We make projects together too! One of our favorite part of the day is when we have buddies. We also really like it when we see our buddies at recess, lunch, at an assembly, in the hallway, or anyplace at school or in the neighborhood. Before our buddies leave our class each day, we thank them for helping us learn to read and write.

* Positive Email Thoughts from Parents

Just trying to keep my bubbles in the air!

Hey'all... I just wanted a place on my blog to keep the positive email's that come from my teaching parents! Some days I need to remind myself that some homes are grateful for the time a teacher gives to their student.

I will add to this blog each time I get a "nibble."

Mrs. Probert,

"I hope that this note finds you well. I know that school has just started & you are very busy, but I need to thank you!! We had to transfer Kylie over to Lakeview in Roy because of our move!! We finally found a house, unfortunately Dave isn’t here to share in the joys of buying it. Kylie is doing well in her new school & seems to be adjusting to the new environment. I feel like you are a huge part of the reason she is doing so well. You are an amazing woman & an amazing teacher!! You have given Kylie the tools necessary to succeed and for that I have to thank you!! You have touched our lives and given our precious daughter a wonderful gift, the gift of love for school & a yearning to learn. Thank you for everything you have done!!!

Please continue to be the person & the great teacher you are & I know that many more children will be touched as well!!"
Thank You,
Heather A

I REPLIED WITH MUCH THANKS TO KYLIE AND HER FAMILY!!!
